Heading north

Sorry for taking so long in posting this blog….been procrastinating a little. Heading North We had a perfect window to start our journey north the day after New Year’s. Winds 15 knots south-east , seas 2 to 4 feet high….wine and cheese sailing as some would say. Left Bequia at noon for an overnight sail. We usually try to avoid them but having debated different routes, we felt  it would be better to do an 18 to 22 hour passage instead of stopping in St Vincent where the anchorage is not the best or St Lucia that has a bad reputation for being boarded by robbers/pirates. We had a great sail from Bequia to St Vincent, doing 6 knots or more, then got in the lee of the big island. Winds died down, sails fluttering all over…time to motor sail.   It’s been more than 2 months since we’ve been back on the boat. It’s great to be home. We’ve managed to repair most of our electrical, plumbing and mechanical problems ourselves which saved us thousands of dollars. A few more has sprung up but that’s typical in the boating life….always something to fix. We’re currently on the island of Bequia, which is part of St Vincent and the Grenadines. We arrived over a week ago and will be here until the new year. It’s pretty busy in the anchorage and it’s amazing to see the amount of Canadian cruisers surrounding us. Guess we’re all trying to avoid the winter. In January, we’ll be starting our journey back up north, and hopefully reach the Dominicain Republic sometime in July for the start of the hurricane season.  Hope you enjoy our photos. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Cheers  Mike and Pierrette Lovely rainbow 🌈  I shared half my dinner with these little moochers  Great colors in the sky Beautiful sunset Our an...
