Coronavirus and Barracuda

Well the world is upside down and going crazy with the Coronavirus.

In the Bahamas, we’re not getting much feedback unless we go online to read about it in the news. We hear little tidbits as we go to shops but very little. So we’re not exactly sure what the status is over here in terms of quarantine and such.

For the US and Canadian boaters, many decisions are being made in the next few days or weeks. Many that wanted to travel further south or for and extra month are making the decision to turn back earlier in case the borders shut down which we understand is what’s happening.

For us, we need to decide if we keep sailing in the Bahamas for the next little while or  do a hard week or so of sailing and reach our goal of Turks and Caicos before they shut down their boarder. We’ve heard they have  shut down entry to sailboats arriving from St Martin for now......

While the world is falling apart, we went fishing. A thing called a Cuban reel which looks like a frisbee with a hole in it is the go too gear plus a really big hook ( Cedar Plug)
We troll this behind the boat in deep water. The look of horror on Mike’s face when I yelled up to him that there was a fish on the line.for the first time.... Caught a 3 foot long barracuda who wasn’t happy. So it was catch and release and new underwear.

 Cheers
Mike and Pierrette
