Curfew / lockdown Bahamas style
Probably a lot of you think that we’re living the high life in the Bahamas. Not so....
The Prime Minster of the Bahamas has decreed that all boaters may only leave their vessels for food, water, fuel, medical attention and takeout food.
Every weekend there is a full lockdown so then we’re not even allowed off the boat for any reason. All grocery stores, shops restaurants are closed during that period.
The rules seems to vary from Island to Island. Some won’t ever allow you off the boat so yo we u must order everything online to be delivered at the dock. You can’t even choose your own tomatoes.
We've been at anchor at Black Pont in the Exumas since March 23rd waiting and hoping things will improve.
Easter weekend, we are in lockdown from Thursday night to Tuesday morning. All we can do is eat, swim, nap, drink and Repeat lol
Day 1 of lockdown: The weather has been horrible all day, the boat bounced up and down non stop because of westerly winds. Can’t do much. A few cocktails makes it bearable 🍸Off
Day 2 of the lockdown: still have some sanity. Cleaned the head (toilet for the landlubbers) and the cockpit. Mike went for a swim around the boat in the morning .... 2 nurse sharks hanging / swimming around the boat. Went back in the afternoon; 3 sharks now. I just dipped my big toe in the water. Don’t really want swimming companions today!!!
Day 3 of the lockdown: The day just dragged on and on. Cleaned the galley ( kitchen for the landlubbers) and the quarter berth. Took out the rum a little earlier today. Why not... it’s Easter after all. We must celebrate.
Day 4 of the lockdown: Starting to slowly loose our minds. Talking to and taking pictures of a stuffed frog ( Louie is his name) singing 1980’s songs. Sharks be damn. Went for a swim anyway!
Oh and guess what..... In 4 days we have another lockdown. We get to do this all over again!!!!!☹️

Yikes! Good thing you got the booze stocks!!! I haven't left the property since the 13th of March if it makes you feel any better, but I doubt it. The photos make it look beautiful though.
ReplyDeleteOh ya, I love how by day 4 you were cool with swimming with company!
