Season 4

We’re back home on our boat….

It was fantastic to see family and friends again. It had been quite  a while since our last visit. Hopefully we won’t wait so long between visits next time.

During our stay back on land, we really appreciated small things such as everyday showers, a big bed, in house laundry, having a car and not having to lug  our groceries in a dinghy.

We had lot’s of fun cat and dog sitting, long walks and working for a farmer during the potato harvest.

Fast forward to 3 months later….

We flew back to St Lucia on October 16th. All went well and our luggage arrived at the same time as we did. 😂.Our man “Vision” who was looking after our boat while we were away was at the airport to pick us up. Not sure what we would categorize his car other than “death trap” and he drove as if his dreadlocks were on fire 🔥. The boat was in good shape, other than our batteries were dead so we ended up spending our first night in the dark.

Unfortunately our new (to us) dinghy”Norman”  that we bought just before heading back to Canada has a small leak. We’ve had it on deck and looked all over but can’t seem to find where the water is coming from. Oh well, we’ll just keep the bailer close by. 🙄

We spent a week at the marina getting the boat cleaned up, installing the windlass motor and other chores and turned around and headed back to Martinique. We absolutely adore the French Islands. Wine, cheese, baguette…what more can you ask for. Seriously, in St Lucia, everything is so expensive; food, transportation, fuel, alcohol so we had decided prior to come back to provision heavily before going further south. Now that we’re here, we’ll stay awhile.

Even though the hurricane season is over, we’ve seen quite a lot of rain. Mike’s been having a great time, jumping off the boat for a swim and snorkel, or just getting on the bow of the boat for a fresh water rinse off.

Several of our neighbors seem to be quite comfortable to run naked on their boats doing chores….where does one look when you’re talking to them 😵🥴 ah …well to each it’s own 😊

Sitting in the cockpit one evening, waiting for a storm that didn’t arrived, listening to great music, sipping a glass of wine, reminiscing of when we bought our boat and be in awe of everyone in our marina whom had been sailing for years. us with barely any experience…. Now we can be proud of ourselves…here we are in Martinique, just relishing every moment that we’ve lived. What an awesome journey.

The absolute best part was hooking up again with our Danish friends. It felt like it was yesterday that we’d had last seen them. Such great friends. Of course, drinks and food 🍷🧉🥤 were part of the reunion lol 😂

Cheers
